The Happenings

Happy 2022 from the studio!

2021 was a big year for me! I rented a studio in Brooklyn, was published in my hometown magazine, South West Georgia Living, taught the Savannah Country day Middle School a mixed media class in Savannah GA, gave private painting lessons, and sold originals, prints, and commissions. I made time to experiment and play, and gave myself permission for a little grace when things felt heavy and difficult. I also learned from amazing artrepeneurs that have helped inspire me in business as well as in my creative flow. I feel like my path is exactly where it’s supposed to be even though it seems like 20+ years as an artist has sent me up and down many mountains. But life is about the the journey and I’m grateful for everyone that has rooted me on, supported me, and has been a part of my artistic career as a mentor, friend, family member, collector, &/ or follower. Cheers to you, to 2022, and to lots more art!

‘Meditative Landscapes has launched’

This series has been so cathartic to make. After doing a lot of introspection especially elevated by my yoga teacher certification in 2020, I started meditating a lot more to calm my anxious mind. I thought a lot about places that made me feel at peace and centered when I meditated. In most of these meditations I could feel certain sensations like the breeze on my face and the stillness around my body around sunset. I often drifted towards water or mountain ranges and I decided to paint about it. These places just about painted themselves as I moved through the canvas. The color pallet was also exciting for me because the colors were a bit off from my normal range. I had chosen them at a local Brooklyn art supply store that had a limited paint selection due to Covid. I ended up with exciting colors that I wouldn’t have chosen otherwise, a beautiful happy accident! I especially used a great deal luminous violet which I actually think I am obsessed with and will have it in my arsenal from here on out. The colors in this collection make me happy and I hope that when you view it, it can whisk you away to a peaceful and calm vibration! A place that can brighten your mood and energy, it has certainly done that for me!

January 2021 After escaping to my hometown in Georgia for the last 10 months, it feels great to be back in New York in my new studio! I love the light and I love the energy that being in New York creates. This past year has been such a whirl wind for me, as I know it has been for most everyone. I was able to focus a lot of my anxious energy into painting and was able to create a body of work that I am proud of! I became a certified 200hr yoga teacher in 2020 and it has truly expanded and opened up my painting practice. I am so grateful to share my journey inwards through the creations I am making in this studio this year!
